Does NY have separate qualification reqrmts?

Does the state of New York have a welder certification requirement to perform welding in the state? I caught that in an e-mail this week, and I'm not sure if it was a typo.

I am only familiar with the DOT requirements. Yes, NY has their own specific Welder test requirements that that are different that AWS D1.5.
