does anyone know how high i can lift a truck and still be street legal? and what is the largest tire that i can use?

i'm also looking for a stepside bed for a '78 ford short wheelbase

There is no blanket answer. Check with your state Dept of Motor Vehicles and your local laws. They vary from state to state and in some cases, depending upon the division of legislative powers, even from municipality to municipality within a state.
