Hi Everyone, I am using UG NX 9. When I am in drafting and my hidden lines displayed the way I want them on my details I try to export them to .pdf or print them the hidden lines look like garbage on the print out or exported .pdf.

Where is a setting to match the hidden lines that are displayed in the drafting views to the print out / .pdf?

Thanks,

Patrick.

Can you provide at least some screen shots showing the sort of differences that you're seeing?

Hi John, I tried to attach an example. We are happy with the .jpeg line font but we would rather export a .pdf. The .pdf version looks like there is lines missing because of the length of the hidden line font.

When you're Exporting the PDF, in the section of the dialog labeled 'Print Properties', are you setting the 'Size' to something other then 'Full Size' or a 'Scale Factor' of '1.000'? If so, try setting it to 'Full Size' and see if this improves the results.

Isn't this the old setting of software fonts ?
File - All Preferences - Visualization...
Line tab: The software fonts ( activate to edit the values) the dash size should in a metric part be , say, 3 mm, the space size 2 mm.
when set, turn off software font.
?

Hi John, no luck with the "Size:Full Scale".

Hi Toost, thanks for your help! That seemed to work!

Cheers,

Pat.

I think that this is still valid, John will correct me if not.
Software font is used when plotting, it's the setting on how long the dash and the spaces should be. You should correct these values in your templates if they are wrong.
"Hardware font" is when the graphics card will produce the dashes and spaces and we have no control over how large these are.
Many -many years ago not all graphics cards had dashed lines as a function and we could in NX then decide to run the display using "software fonts",
now all cards has dashed lines as a function and the settings are for plotting / pdf's only.

Tomas

Yes, that's basically true. So if you want to see what something will looks like plotted (which includes exported as a PDF or CGM file), you need to set the Font Preference to 'Software' and then what you see on the screen is what you'll get when plotted. Of course once you've decided that that's OK, it's better to switch back to 'Hardware' fonts as they display faster.
