Display for Micrologix 1000

Just curious if it would be possible to use a Matrix Orbital or a Crystalfonts LCD as a display for a micrologix 1000. I see that both use RS232 serial connections for communication.
Or if anyone has any low cost display options (this is for a home project).

These LCD's appear to take ASCII input, The ML1000 doesn't support ASCII.

automationdirect.com has some fairly cheap HMI's that should work.
