Disifectants selection for deionized water system

Dear All,

There are some problem with our deionized water system pipe disinfectants selection: We just finished a deionized water system installation, you know, the pipe system is made by PVC pipe to connect the R/O unit, storage tank, Fixed bed demineralizers, Minxed bed demineralizers. Before putting the system into operation, a properly sanitization procedure should be implement to ensure that the strict microbiological standard. From Mr. greg87 in this forum some disinfectants such as sodium hypochlorite, hydrogen peroxide have been introduced, but this method requires to circulate the disinfectant in the system for at least 12hrs, and I don't know if this disinfectant could be caustic to the resin in process bed.If there is some influence in, how to prevent or eliminate?

You shouldn't have a problem, but to be shure, contact your resins supplier. It is better.
Now, regarding resins let me give you some tips:
Before you start producing PW for the first time with a new resins bottle, you should put your system rinsing the bottles directly to the sewage depending on the bottle size, but for a small industrial PW plant (400lt/hr) you should consider at least 12hours. The reasons is you have to wash the resins otherwise your TOC values will jump to the ceiling;
There are two different resins types: ones that you can regenerate in your site (if you have equipment for) or send it to a specialized company; the others you just use it and when it is exhausted you throw it away;

In both cases be very attentive to two issues:
1-Control the water quality very closely. Usually the ehxaust rate of resins is not constant, it is exponential, that is, you can have very good water quality for instance for 30 days and then in two days, your water quality drops to unnaceptable values;
2-Microbiological growth-resins bottles are more easy to grow micro contamination than for instance CDI module;
