I'm having a peculiar problem with ProE. Every and any new component I install in the main assembly file disappears as soon as its assembled. That is, it still shows up in the model tree, but it becomes invisible. This happens for both solid parts and surfaces. It's not possible to bring it back, either by changing colors or visibilities, unless I reinstall it - then it shows up during assembly, but disappears again after the operation is completed.
I'm not sure what's triggering it (perhaps too many componenets at a single level?). Have you encountered that problem before, and know of any a fix?
