Disable eDrawings PDMworks

I just installed SW 2006. I already had Acad 2000 on the computer. Now, every time I bring up an existing Acad drawing, eDrawings PDMworks automatically comes up. I would like to have eDrawings PDMworks available to use, but I do not want it to come up automatically every time I open an Acad drawing. How can I do this?

Which one comes up, eDrawings or PDMW, or both?

I double click on an Acad file in Windows Explorer. While the drawing is loading, a graphic comes up saying eDrawings PDMWorks powered by SolidWorks. That graphic goes away and the very tiny eDrawings window comes up and stays - it has nothing except for a lower case "e," a cancel "x" and the eDrawing logo to click on if you want to go into the eDrawing program.

It should say eDrawings not PDMWorks.
In WinExp, right-click on the file, open with AutoCAD, select box "Always open selected file with program...".

It does behave as I described. I did what you suggested, but the same thing keeps happening.

When SW installs, it adds a lot of menu and arx stuff to various Acad subdirectories, but I don't know exactly what it adds or how it works.

In older versions of SW, I just put the offending files in an out-of-the-way place and the problem was fixed. Not this time.

You may need to do a reinstall. I never heard of both eDwg AND PDMW opening. Is your SW license located locally or on a server? If locally, you may have conflics with ACAD. Contact your VAR.

We've had fun and games with this before. Sw sometimes adds to AutoCAD menus and appends to the acad.rx file. Menus can be unloaded in AutoCAD and the acad.rx can be edited with notepad to remove the unwanted arx loads.
Sw sometimes has a tendency to change AutoCAD files to be opened by default with eDrawings or DWG editor. If you goto my computer>tools>folder options>file types, you can reassociated dwg files with the AutoCAD application.

I kept on moving files added by SW to off-path places, and finally managed to disable the automatic pop-up of eDrawings.

Hi Philrock, I think I've got where you are coming from (doh). I think I'm right anyway. Sw changes the acad.rx file in your AutoCAD installation folder. It adds some commands that automatically loads the arx routines that adds in edrawings publisher and the pdmworks client into AutoCAD. If you look in the acad.rx you will see them - can't remember the exact wording but it's dead obvious. You can just delete the lines you don't need or delete the whole file if there's nothing in it you use. You can manually add these in when you need to by using the appload dialog or (arxload) lisp routine in AutoCAD. Alternatively you can turn off the installation of these components when you install SW or PDM.
