If I understand correctly when there's a compressive force acting on the shaft, the average force needs to be input as a negative value with a positive amplitude. The average bending moment needs to be input as a negative value with a positive amplitude as well.

Questions:
1. did I understand this correctly?
2. What about the maximum force and maximum bending moment used to do the static calculation? Do they also need to be negative?
