I just installed SW 2003 and in some parts when I dimension a solid the dim will appear for a split second when I place its location and then disappear. I'm wodering if it is a text color problem but everything is still set at default. Thanks for the help.

Check Annotations in the tree. Make sure it is checked. Bradley

It's checked and usually even if it isn't, as soon as you dim something it will be checked. The dimension is there but I can't see it.

Also make sure that in the view menu "All Annotations" is checked, these a global toggle, so if you deselect this in the view menu you wont see any annotation at all, if you checked them in the part or not.

IMHO

Thats not true when your in a part sketch. I turned everything off:

Under Annotations in FM:
Display Annotations
Show Feature Dims
Show Reference Dims

Under View:
All Annotations I uncheked first then, Hide all Types.

And in a sketch these dims still show....Now that's the way I'm reading his post though...if He's adding reference dims after the sketch is made then yes your right "All Annotations" with the 2-3 checked Under the Annotations in the FM works.

Just wanted to clarify.

I just looked in my view menu. Every option from planes to piping points is grayed out. It's only in this one part that originally came as an a native sldprt but zipped up with winzip. Maybe winzip lost some info in the compression? Other files that came in the same zip package work fine. puzzling, thanks

That's because "Hide All Types" is checked. Uncheck it and the options will become available.

A

that worked, got it. Never had that happen before. Thanks
