Hello,

Please see the attached image. This is an assembly I've got with two parts, the bracket and the top plate. I've mated the base of the bracket to the top plate, but I'm trying to dimension an edge of the bracket to the edge of the top plate. I'm sure I can do this with a layout sketch, but I'm not using them, so I don't suppose there is a way I can add a dimension between the parts as they are?

Thank you.

Use a Distance Mate

-or-

Add a dimension to the sketch level of the Bracket. That will create an In-Context or Top-Down part.

Hi, PalMess:

It depends on purpose of this dimension.

Best regards,

Alex

What is stopping you from using a layout sketch in your assembly?
