Dear all,

What is the dimensional difference between raised face and large male flanges for CL600 & higher as per ASME B16.5?

The height of raised portion (6mm), outside diameter of raised portion and thickness of flange are all same.

If vendor proposes raised face flange instead of large male flange for CL600, can we accept it?

Your help would be highly appreciated.

Excuse me for my stupidity, but what is a 'large male flange'?

Greetings

I'm sorry for my ignorance, but I don't know either what is a large male flange, how you distinguish the steel flange's gender and more important, what is the relation of the mentioned flange with ASME B16.5 or any other recognized standard. Can anyone help, please?

OK, OK, I wasn't intended to insult anyone and I'm aware of ASME B16.5, para 6.4.3.2, I only could not believe that these flanges are still being fabricated and used. On the other hand, you are right, here Down Under we are a bit picky and suspicious on the use of B16.5 and B16.47.
Cheers,
