Hello All,

Can I know the difference between Coupling and MPC constraints in ABAQUS interaction tab.
your help is appreciated.

Kind regards,

Coupling constraints are used to constrain nodes to a reference point. On the other hand multi-point constraints (MPCs) serve as constraints between different node groups. That's the main difference between these two types of constraints. Detailed description of each type can be found in the documentation.

If you can give some more info on what you modelling then we can give some more feedback

I have a question for this topic. I have a mass that represents an engine and it has to be attached to the fuselage (which is at the moment made of 1D beams). Is it better to create MPC or coupling?

You could use both but personally I would choose kinematic coupling. That’s because it’s more straightforward, general and easier to define. Effects, if applied correctly, should be ewuivalent. However I suggest to compare the differences between these two approaches in terms of what you want to achieve. You can also consider other types of couplings to avoid overstiffening the connection.

I will check both then, I've been used a mix of both for different components. I don't see major difference so far.
