Differences between Student and Full Edition

I'm a graduating Senior From California State University, Sacramento, and have some good encounters with SW98. I am planning to purchase a Student Edition of SW2001 before I graduate, and wanted to know if there are any major differences between the Full and Student that I should be concerned with.

I did not even realize that there was a student version. Your best bet may be to contact a SolidWorks reseller for the information. DimensionalSolutions@Core.com

Please note that SolidWorks Corporation

Does not provide support for the Student Edition. The SolidWorks Student Edition has online help and tutorials that will help you install and register the software license. The "Getting Started" book can help you learn how to use the tools and menus. SolidWorks 2001 Student Edition is a Windows-native application, so if you know how to use popular Windows programs, you're already on your way to learning how to use SolidWorks. Your teacher might be a good resource for questions and help. However, if you have a problem you can't solve by yourself, you can log on to the SolidWorks Student Newsgroup, at

where you can consult with your peers and seek the help you need. Fee-based support may be available from authorized SolidWorks resellers. The SolidWorks Student Edition can not be upgraded, and does not include subscription service.

Some things I notice to be different:

1) The price for the Student addition is a whole lot cheaper, than the version of SW my company bought.
Student addition (with Animator): $249
Business addition (without Animator): $4000
2) We get support for our copies.
3) We can upgrade from the the subscription services

If this was not mentioned already in the above replies, the student edition also puts a watermark across the prints which you can not remove. I do not recall what the watermark exactly says but it does appear. BBJT CSWP
