Difference in ANSI and BS Gauging

Hi,

I have recently come to know that when you are gauging a BS thread onto a ANSI gauge the gauge is showing as failed on NOGO but the BS gauge is fine. I did through browsing came to know that there were difference between these threads but i could not know what these differences are. can you let me know why is this discrepency.
