Are these two alloys interchangeable, or is there an annealing process that makes interchange impossible?

SA-479 covers bars and shapes. SA 182 covers forgings.

Some product forms in some sizes may be certified to both. You really need to read each spec as to heat treatment, etc.

Regards,

Mike

SA-479 references heat treatment per SA-484, which requires 304 to be in the solution annealed condition.
