I am looking for information about sizing fuel lines for a multiple 1500KW generator installation. Both from the main tanks storage tanks to the day tanks and also from the day tanks to the generators.

Anyone have a good reference, similair to Crane Appendix B for Water, to determine the head loss for #2 diesel thru Schedule 40 pipe. Any recommeded velocities or total head loss? Any good tips or potential pitfalls to avoid with diesel piping or with generators in general.

Thanks in advance.

Hello

For the pipe friction, go to:

The day tank should be filled in less than 1/2 hour, when operating at max. load. Should have two pumps w/valves so that one can operate while other is on standby. Provide strainers & filters to protect the fuel pumps and engine ejectors from dirt.

Should have pretty much the same arrangement from day tank to engine. Pipe size as required for fuel delivery flow rate and pressure as per engine requirements.

Fredb, thank you for your help.
