CODAD stands for Combined Diesel And Diesel. This type of proplulsion system is applied often for Naval Surface Ship. That is, two diesel engines are connected to one propeller via hydraulic friction clutch each and a reduction gear.

Question: If there is a speed difference between two engines, the higher speed engine will drive the other engine, lower speed engine, as well as the propeller. In order to avoid this problem, that is engine drive the other engine, the engine control system has to be provided with a precise engine speed control system with electronic speed governor.

In this regard, I would like to know the details how to control the speed of engines and maintain the load on each engine in equal(load sharing) and allowable speed difference in general etc..

Is there anyone experienced and knows well this kind of problem?
I appreciate any advice on this.
