I want to install a Diaphragm pump for a sump to transfer liquid(specific gravity less than 1),100 feet away and 20 feet high. The suction and discharge pipes size are 1-1/2 inches.Do i require to have foot valve at suction and a Non Return Valve at discharge? Seeking help from Forum.
Thanks

Diaphragm pumps generally have inlet and outlet check valves built into them. That's what makes them work.

As pointed out by hydtools there is no need to a NRV on either inlet or discharge, however, a NRV (foot valve) at the inlet to the suction line could make the start-up time a little quicker if required.
