AWWA C300 / C303 pipe is being constructed with a full CLSM encasement. Is there any need to diaper the joints?

will CLSM provide adequate joint protection or would it be recommended to diaper the joints and then encase?

cvg,

Is there potential for the CLSM to crack in the future and allow external moisture into the joints? If so, you should probably diaper them.

well, if the clsm cracks, it would be due to settlement. settlement would deflect the joints and likely the grouted diaper joint protection would also crack. So, outside of encasing in reinforced concrete to stiffen the pipe, I'm not sure I could prevent water from eventually making its way through a crack. So I am not totally convinced it makes any difference.
