Determining roof deck types for a school

I am new to designing buildings, especially schools. What is the best way to go about designing roof decks for a school. Any suggestion/comments are appreciated.

We typically use a 1 1/2", Type B (wide rib) metal deck using SDI or other manufacturer's deck catalogs (like Vulcraft).

For large gymnasiums, sometimes a 3" acoustical deck with wider roof joist spacings.
