anyone else have this annoying problem. When generating a detail view, the view arrows only appear when the shape of the detail view is selected. Other than that they are gone? It's piddly, but it's been buggin me since 2005 started?

Yes. We have the same problem with arrows. SW2005 SP2.0. First saw it on SP 1.1.

Nope, cards are too new to be tested, but it's NVidia should be fine.

This one's in the right group of Nvidia models.

Thanks though.

Scott, have you checked them out lately? Every card from Nvidia (which were all Quadros) all of them passed "all" tests according to SW. My card is newer, but I've never had any major problems with Nvidia cards. I'm running a Flat panel with a Quadro NVS AGP8X on a Dell workstation. This thing is rock solid.

The NVS is the card that is not supported by SW. I have spoke to SW a number of times on this and they have expressed high concern about this card being name a Quadro.

If you can prove me wrong and point out on the SW website that, this card is approved on the SW website great, but there known issues with that card and any strange things you may see are proably due to your unsupported card.

Does that card have an application specific setting for SolidWorks?

Also check out Scotts faq559-1066 & faq559-1058

Scott, can you describe what "high concerns about this card" means. I can't prove that this card is approved by SW, I just said it was in the same Family "quadro", and going by what you're saying this card should not be a quadro I take it? Don't you wish they'd stop coming out with different card every month, I can't keep up.

Thanks Scott, I'll have to suffer I guess.

just updated to the most recent certified Solidworks driver from Nvidia. Still has problem. I give up, too many variables.

SolidsMaster,

I used to have the same NVS card as you, but thanks to Scotts recommendations, we got them switched to the Quadro FX 700 cards. The biggest difference I saw immediately was there was no "ghosting" on the screen when I was panning in a file or zooming in/out. While I never experienced major problems while I had the NVS, I can definitely manipulate the model (zoom, pan, rotate) but easier and faster with the FX 700.

I'll have to look into that one. I'm not seeing any ghosting problems here though. So far the only display issue has been these view arrows. And just by the way it's acting, I don't think it's video related...but who knows.

SolidsMaster,

I called SW yesterday and talked about this. They are going to add it to the unsupported list soon. They mentioned that this card has been fully tested by their standards. How you use it maybe different.

Yeah, those wildcats seem like nice cards. Other guy here has the Quadro 980FX GL and is having problems (so he says), I'm not so sure it's the card though...

Scott, are all the "Quadro" cards in jeopardy? I've asked my VAR to look into it...they just aren't at that level...

John

No all Quadro cards are good some better then others (Due to age) but the NVS is not a good card to use, nor is it supported (as stated above).

Your friend is probably using the wrong the certifed driver... that is almost always the case.
