Hello,

1. Which is the most destructive direction and location on materials.
2. Can you help me understading what is tranverse, longitudinal, perpendicular direction of test piece locations.?
3. Why is impact testing done after min. PHWT cyle and tensile testing done after MAx. PWHT simulation cycle.?

1. You probably mean which orientation relative to working direction has the lowest properties? Reply - through thickness and perpendicular to the grain (aka short transverse).

2. Example - if plate material is rolled in one direction, the direction of rolling or grain flow is longitudinal, transverse is perpendicular to longitudinal (or grain flow) and short transverse is through thickness, perpendicular to the grain flow.

Are you sure about the above statement? Impact testing is done after PWHT cycle time to ensure adequate notch toughness of the weld and surrounding BM. Tensile testing is done afer PWHT cycle time to ensure minimum properties are still met because of the sensitivity of certain materials to PWHT cycle time.
