Does any body help for designing Chords and Collectors for Concrete rigid diaphragm from ETABS?
I have tried to extract the forces from ETABS using SemiRigid diaphragm approach but the axial force diagram doesnt looklike good numbers.
Any suggestion, any idea?

Thanks.

Rigid Diaphragm assignment will never give you any axial force in the members. You will have to use a semi-rigid diaphragm to extract axial forces in floor framing members.

Slickdeals

I have mentioned the same thing that I am using Semi Rigid diaphragm. The question is that forces are not giving me good sense of understanding for collector beams. I have asked if you guys can give me some idea that how u design chords and collectors for rigid floor using ETABS.

Thanks.

I am guessing one of the ways you can check it would be to check the shear in the lateral force resisting element at a level and then looking at the axial force in the collector beams. Maybe others have better ideas.

I have already checked that and this was the basis that I am saying that forces doesnt look right. The forces doesnt even close for shear in the lateral force resisting element and axial force in the collector beam. I calculated manually rigidity of each wall floor by floor and distribute the forces base on rigidity and designing for that.

Thanks for your response.
