Hi, my assignment is to design a concrete parking lot (roughly 700 sq ft) using the ACI 330R-01. The parking lot should satisfy HS20 loading. The native soil is a low plasticity clay (CL).
I am told I am restricted to concrete of fc' = 4000 psi, and a concrete thickness of 6 inches. I would also like to minimize the amount of subbase used.
When going through my calculations following the example provided, I find I need to use a higher fc' as well as a thick layer of subbase in order to satisfy the 6 inch thickness.
Do the results seem reasonable? Or is there an error in my approach? Any help is appreciated.
