Hello all,

I am trying to design base plate for single leg angle connected by fillet weld all around. Can anyone help/guide me with designing the base plate for single leg angle.

I tried to follow AISC DG 1, but it seems like that is specific for W-beams.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Assuming it's a square BPl, you may want to consider a diagonal line about 0.95 of the leg length and treat the part that hangs over as a cantilever... Can use bd^2/4 for Z and not S...

single angle cant be very highly loaded I wouldnt think. Just use the same basic principles as DG1

Make sure you consider Z axis bending for the angle.
