Most signal plans will have a Phase Timing Chart showing the values to be set in the controller for the phase intervals utilized (minimum, extension, max, yellow, all red, etc.). The chart also shows the signal head display (G,Y,R)associated with each phase interval. The purpose of the Phase Timing Chart is to ensure the correct displays are on and no conflicting signal head displays are on. The exact layout of the chart varies from agency to agency.
The Phase Sequence Diagram is a separate graphic that illustrates the controller ring structure and the phases in each ring.
When the signals are part of a coordinated system we utilize an additional chart for the phase splits, offsets and cycle lengths. Time of day programming changes are listed in a TOD table.
