I am certain that in your engineering lab you have a Fluke digital handheld meter. That is a good design example. We have investigated using a low durometer urethane "Drop Boot", similar to the Fluke version, on several of our handheld designs. Santoprene is also a good choice to experiment with; it can be molded in several different durometers.<br>

The amount of shock induced by a drop can be relatively severe. I am sure you have drop tested your unit, and examined the failure modes of the external and internal parts. If your overall design is not set as yet, look into using structural foam to support all your internal parts. Epac is the name of the company that markets this approach to internal packaging. We looked into it 4 years ago. It must be considered early in the design to be the most effective. It is based on eliminating all internal supports and replacing them with blocks of molded foam that fit together, and firmly hold all internal componets in place.<br>
