New member here. I'm trying to find the depth of the frostline in central Alabama. I have purchased a copy of the ICC Code and have been unable to find it there. Also the texts and references I have from college days to not provide it.

Help is appreciated...thanks, Oakley

In the region of SC where I live and work, a design value of 12-18 inches is used. In actuality, I don't think frost ever embeds more than 6 inches around here. A chart I have shows a maximum frost depth in central alabama to be .25 meters, or about 10 inches. 12 inches would be a good estimate.

Not sure of your application, but in most areas of the SE embedment and depth of the footing required for seismic stability will extend below the frost line, meaning the depth to frost is not usually the determining design factor.
