I have the dvp32es2 delta plc tha has the analogue extension module. I am measuring the current that is being used by a machine. Is there a way to log the data? I mean, I could take a reading every few minutes and then store it in range of registers, but that seems quite ineffecient.

plenty of ways to do it.

If you want to view it yourself, then create an array and copy the value at the top then shift the whole array down one position. Make the array big enough for the length of time that you are interested in of either a day or week. Shifting it is on a time base of an interval that you want to save the data.

Or

Create a value of ranges of the current, use add instructions to keep track of the range and maybe display the range of values on some HMI maintenance screen. At the time interval one shot the qualified current value.

Example
Current Count
100-110a 1
111-120a 2
121-130a 10
etc........

This would be a bell curve if you plotted it.
