Here's a good one: my part file that was driving a drawing file got deleted. I can see the drawing in the preview pane just fine, however when I attempt to open it nothing show up....anyway recover the drawing?

Open the part read only and save as a detached drawing.

When opening the dwg, select box "references", browse for part.

Search your "TempSWBackupDirectory" to see if a backup still exists.

I believe the part was deleted months ago. :( There's no chance of recoving it. The drawing though is still there, which I can see in the preview pane...however once it is offically "opened", the views are x'd out.

Use TimlLord's suggestion. After you have the drawing, you can then re-model the part and link it to the drawing.

If you select "view only" when opening the drawing everything will appear even if the part and assembly files are missing. We have customers that will only send the .slddrw files...not knowing any better.
