I want to know how a delay-on-make timer works. I know when power is supplied the timer begins and when it's time function reaches what it was set for say 10 sec, the power is allowed to pass. My question is how? I know when a N.O. contactor is energized, it closes and power passes cause of the coil but how does the timer tie into the contactor?

There is a N.O. relay in the unit.
There is a timer in the unit.
When power is applied the timer starts.
When the the time times out it sends power to the relay coil via the circuit board traces hooking the N.O. relay to the timer circuitry.

The contacts on the N.O. relay close....
