I am applying a specific pre-load to a mechanism before it is used in my final assembly. I can apply the pre-load in Simulation and create a deformed shape. I can then use the deformed shape to create a new assembly and analysis the assembly, but I have no way of retaining the residual stress in the preformed shape.

Is it possible to retain the stress/strain information of a deformed shape so when it is imported into a new assembly Simulation takes that information into account when preforming the calculation?

thanks,

Greg

No, guess not, as I remember, it's just the deformed solid which you create, without any Simulation-data...
