Deformable pneumatic tube

Hi,
I've a pneumatic tube that has been constructed as deformable part.
I want to construct a path in assembly that follow external in parallel to the tube (attached picture).
Which is the best method ?

Using NX 8 and TC9.1

Link body into assembly, extract centre line then 3d offset?
