thread184-44074
In a previous post (thread should be linked) a 100psf minimum pressure and a 50 to 1 vent ratio was referenced PER the IBC requirements by smaug6 for deflagration venting. I've become quite familiar with the IBC, IFC, NFPA68 and FM6049 documents for design; and I know where the 100psf minimum requirement comes from in the IFC. My question is, does anyone know where (or if) the 1sqft vent area to 50cuft building volumne ratio is listed in a code or design document? I've looked for it but can't locate the reference (smaug6 seems to indicate it's in the IBC). I'm not sure if anyone else has run across this or if it is more a rule of thumb!
I know it's an old post, but any thoughts on this would be appreciated.
