With the 2020 R1 release of ANSYS it is now possible to define cross sections and assign them to line bodies within the Mechanical application (previously you had to use one of the ANSYS CAD tools, breaking associativity with the source CAD program).
This has some potentially huge productivity improvements for me when designing structures using SolidWorks and analysing with ANSYS.
The problem is I don't see how to define the orientation of the beam element within mechanical. There is an Element Orientation feature but it is only supported for 3d solids & shells.
In APDL the orientation of BEAM188 is defined using the K Node and in DesignModeler it is defined by an axis.
Is there something similar within mechanical?
