Hi,

I need to define a new title block on NX 9 and got stuck almost right in the beginning. Please see the linked image:

I'm looking for solutions on the following items:

1) How do I Import an image into the table? I've tried different image sizes so far but I don't get the image to show up.

2) On the Siemens original title block, there are background texts in the cells, like TITLE, DRG. NO, SHEET REV etc. How do I add these kind of text items into the table cells?

3) I assume I can simply duplicate the variables from the orignal title block to get them working on the new one?

Thanks!

Just create your 'table' with sufficient room so that once you've got your Drawing border defined you can then add an image superimposed over this area as part of the Drawing template file, as I did below when I added the Siemens Logo to my Drawing templates that I create for use when demoing and testing NX:

@pamakela, is the link to an album of videos to our video site.
The topic is drafting templates and video #4 covers titleblocks and should give some ideas on your questions.

1. As John advised, add your image outside of the titleblock, juts leave a cell large enough for the image.
2 & 3. are covered in the video.

Hi,

I tried modifying an existing A3 template (I backed up the original template folder), but now when I try to create a new A3 drawing, I get error message 'Incorrect template specification. The units of the part and the template do not match.'.

I'm sure I only modified the titleblock and nothing else.. how to get past this error msg?

Sounds like you modified an inch template and are trying to use it for a metric part or vice versa.

Well, I checked that my part is in millimeters and also the template is in millimeters. I just edited Drawing-A3-Size-template.prt and returned it to the UGII/templates folder after making my changes. Did the same for Drawing-A3-Size2D-template.prt.

Btw, I checked also your video while Googling around how to modify templates, it was good source of info! Thanks for that.

Ok, I restarted NX and now the new modified templates work. I also added the scale variable into the title block - could it have been this omission that caused the error..? Somehow I would think not.

Now that I have my template working, is there a way to update existing drawings to take on the new template?

If you use your templates as sheet templates, then add a new sheet to your existing drawing and the cut & paste the views from old sheet to new.
