Hello

I'm trying to measure an angle between two faces of solid body. Sometimes it happens that vector normal to faces point inside my solid, giving improper measurement.

Is there any way to fix default face normal vector direction or to force measure feature to automatically use normal vectors that point out of solid?

NX 7.5.5

Can you provide a sample part when this behavior is seen?

What function(s) are you using to measure the angle and what is it that is showing you that the face normals are not what you expected? What faces are you selecting to make this measurement?

I use measure angle, vector to vector. Vector are created as point and normal. Point is common for both vectors and lays on the edge. Each time I use that dark orange face to get normal direction it points inside solid.

The face normals appear to be correct if you use Info -> Object... and select the model faces and hit OK. I think it's just an issue of what your expectations were. The angles appear to be correct, just a bit hard to predict because of the geometric shape and orientation of the faces involved.

I still think that something is wrong with this surface.
1) For example when I try to put Datum Point on it using point on face selection filter the point appears somewhere in the space.
2) When I try to create Datum Axis using point and direction and select point on edge of this face and that face as direction it goes wrong direction. This happens only on this particular face (among all faces in my model).

I can't find anything abnormal about this model or any of its faces. It passes all the checks and when asked, the face normals are both consistent and exactly what one would expect.

All I can suggest is that you contact GTAC and have them forward it to development and have them look at it.
