Has anyone used the concept of installing a smaller dedicated pressure main to serve a tank (with an altitude valve) to beef up area in distribution system that has volume problems. The goal is to reduce costs of installing large mains to the area to meet the demand.

This main would not have any taps and its sole responsibility would be to keep a tank full.

Any insight would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Can be done - but usually done because the alignment from the well or pump station is not through your distribution area. Not sure how this transmission main will reduce the size of your distribution mains.
