if i am giving only dead load then how the selfweight of the member is applied on structure. Even if i am using truss members at dead load analysis each members shows shear and bending moments.can anyone explain the meaning of applying dead load.

If the members are defined as truss members then there should not be any bending in them, even due to self weight. The loads applied to truss members in STAAD.pro should be extrapolated to the nodes so that the total load is still correct while truss members only experience axial forces. Example 17 might be a good one to review.
