I think we got DEA onto our primary reforming catalyst recently, which caused hot spots and mottling. Since then we tripped and were able to steam much of the carbon off.

What would DEA do to this to the catalyst, or is it more likely that the DEA contained lots of sulfur, and we had a mild cause of sulfur poisoning? The other thought is that the DEA would degrade in the hydrotreater and desulfuizers into ammonia and carbon. What do people think?
