DDRR antenna help please

Help! I am experimenting with a DDRR antenna for two meters because I need a low profile vertically polarized antenna.

I have seen several examples on the web but no tech data on how the dimensions are determined. The examples I have seen show a spacing above the ground plane of 2 to 4 inches. How do I calculate the optimum spacing?

I also did a quick search on the USPTO website (

but I couldn't find any antenna patents by 'Boyer'. Maybe just missed it...

thanks. I had seen some of the stuff before. Seems most of the documentation is for 3-30 mhz stuff but one of the sites had a design program. Appreciate the help.
