I am detecting electrical fault using a device working on accoustic principle. It gives dB measurement, based on which i can determine if particular installation is having some elctrical discharge or not.

The problem is i do not know ho much db level could be allowed during electrical discharge. Pls help if you have some information.

There should be some data in the documentation that goes with the meter. Any general advice is impossible to give since the dB reading depends on many things like band-width, distance from fault and many other things.

Try to visit the Transinor home page. They used to have some good numbers. But, beware, you cannot use them without knowing what you are doing.
