Hi There,
I have a question concerning the shock absorbtion of materials;
When viscoelastic materials are deformed under dynamic load, the input stress is the sum of the viscous stress (which is proportional to the extinct of deformation-spring model)and the viscous stress (which is proportional to the rate of deformation-dashpot model).
What is the output stress, by this I mean the sress on the opposite side of deformation, is it the elastic stress only?
Is the enrgy absorbed equivalent to the work done by the viscous stress component?
How can the energy absorbed be related to the Tan Delta values?
