I have modelled a 12' Dia. x 72' High coal stacking tube using elements in Staadpro 3. The wall thickness is 12" and is concrete. The model looks great but the loads which include selfweight, conveyor belt tensions, wind loads, head house dead & live load, and seismic loads give good vertical moments up 4' from the base. After that the moments drop off dramatically. I ran it on Stardyne under Staadpro and got somewhat different answers but the moments still dropped off above 4' from the base but not as drastic as Staadpro. This makes me wonder how effective Staadpro and Stardyne are in analyzing a cylindrical tube!
