Cyclone Separator Code

For a particulate laden gas stream in a polyethelene plant we are including a cyclone separator. What would be an appropriate design and fabrication code to invoke? It operates at a vacuum (-18 inch WC). Someone has suggested API-620 "Design and Construction of Large, Welded, Low-pressure Storage Tanks." One bidder will charge a 20% premium and another just took exception to it. Is there a better Code to Invoke?
 
You don't need a code to design to, because it does not exist as yet. It can be designed using normal structural calculations (eg. Roarks). Make sure to include the low temperature materials requirements, if applicable.
However, the designer must be experienced in silos and the like equipment design, including the loads due to flow, solids loading, etc. These are still proprietary calculations from cyclone separator fabricators, including separation performance guarantees, pressure drop, velocity and corrosion/erosion limits, etc.
I don't believe extra money for a particular code will bring you any benefit.

From memory there is an Australian code for unfired pressure vessels which covers vacuum vessels. Might be worth a look.

Just checked google - Australian Standard 1210.

AS 1210 is the equivalent of ASME VIII (Unfired pressure vessel code). I think that 18" WC of operating vacuum doesn't require pressure vessel design, unless there are other specific design condition. However, it will definitely not require design to API-620.
