Hello All,

I have a cylinderical material sample made of nano-silica particles (the sample has 15 mm diameter and 30 mm length). I want to cut it in axial direction to see the structure inside. Does anybody knows the tool (Hacksaw etc) which can be use to cut such type of material so that inside structure of mateial is preserved?
Many thanks in advance !

Best Regards,
Ameen

I would use a powered rotating saw with a thin diamond blade.

....or a metallographic diamond wafering saw.

If "hacksaw" was the first thing that came to mind, I would suggest sending the sample to a lab. After cutting, there is still surface prep to be done.
