Hei
I'm new to SW cutlist. Is there enyone out there can help me with a door i have made in SW and need a cutlist with dimenstions for it so i can send it to the a carpenter.Without using weldment.

It will be great if someone could help me.

Why don't you want to use weldment? If you want to have the cut length of a part easily controlled it's the best way to go. Also you can create custom weldment profiles for any wood profiles you might need to use.

Another way would be to create a custom property linked to your length measurement. But this takes some time to set up.



 

How can i use weldment in my assembly? when i'm in drawings i go to insert/tabels, but weldment cutlist is not activ.
What shall i do?
 
If you haven't used a Weldment you will not be able to obtain a Cutlist.

Assemblies use BOMs and Weldments use Cutlists.

A Weldment is usually created at the part level and added into an assembly if required.

You can invoke the WELDMENT feature & make any multi-body part a WELDMENT... but you'll have to manually add the data to your cutlist items. I've done this many times.
Then you'll have to make a separate drawing for the weldment... As you've discovered, you can't have both a cut list & a bill of materials in the same drawing.

Your other option is to save the weldment bodies as parts & create an assembly. Then you can have your bill of materials. You can maintain the link between your original part & the assembly you create also.

We don’t use welements here (a choice) but we do need to create cut lists. Here is the way we do it.
You can set up custom properties for your models, using the extruded length to reference the value (ie:cut_lenght), you can even make them config specific, then add this properties field to a BOM - then export to excel. You will need to do some work on the excel file but you can extract the data you are asking for.

How Exactly do you set up custom properties for your model?
And where do you put the value (ie:cut_lenght)in custom properties and again how do you link them to BOM?

To create custom properties just go to the top menu select
File - properties. This will popup a dialogue box that has 3 tabs, summary - custom - configuration specific.
Select the custom tab, in the last empty line you can type in a name in the "property name" column, select text in the "type" column. Then in the Value/Text Expression" column you can enter in a number or even easier click on the extruded length dimension of the model (to do this you can double click on the model and the model properties should be displayed) select the appropriate dimension and your done. Make sure you select the done button at the bottom or your changes will not be recorded. create a drawing of the assembly, insert a BOM the click on the BOM, on the left side of your screen a dialogue box will show a list of editable items for your BOM, select Colum properties, select the custom property button, this should have a list of all the available custom properties from your model. Select the one that matches your name and you should be able to do the rest. Before you modify a default BOM you may want to save it as a template for a new custom BOM with your specific mane for it.

Cut lists work great with wood structures as well. I have set up section profiles of 2x4,6,8,10,12's and use them to build specialty crating and shipping boxes. I created a folder in the weldment profile folders called "wood."
