Hello,

How can I apply my current user settings to an existing part?
When I went to customer default and change it, it does not apply it to existing part.
I have to go to preferences and do the changes there. As an example, I want my solids, sheets, and curves a certain color. Every time I work on an existing part, I have to change the object preferences.

TIA!

The customer default part settings only apply to a brand new part (one created with the "blank" template). If you choose a template other than blank when creating a new file, you will need to open the template part and make your changes there (by changing the preferences in the existing part and saving it).

If there are many existing parts that you need to change, you can record a macro or journal to quickly apply your changes to the files.

Hi Cowski,

I have no problem with new parts.
What I would like to do is when I open an existing part, I would be able to replace the default setting with a minimum of commands. Settings would be object preference, modelling preference, etc. I am hoping it would be similar to changing the icons setup. I have saved my icon setup and I just go to customize and load my *.mtx file.

Record a macro or journal of your desired changes. You can then run your code on any open file. A custom button can be created in your toolbar/ribbon for easy access.
