Here is what I want to do. I design waterslides and need to be able to generate a total length of the slide from all of the individual sections in the assy. Is there any way that I could set up a parameter in each individual part and in assm have Pro take all those parameter and add them up to give me a total?

Thanks,
Chris

Yes.

But it will depend on how and where this measurement comes from in the model. Let me explain...you must be able to create a parameter in each model that numerically represents the length that you want, and allow that parameter to control the desired part dimension. I assume that your curved slide sections are revolved sections, though, which means that you would have to somehow define the arc length instead of the revolve angle.

In any case, if you are able to have the defined length parameter-driven, and can have the parameter name remain constant between all of the models, then you can set up a calculation in the BOM format file. It's a bit too involved for me to go into here, but if you have current maintenance contract with PTC, use this link < and pay close attention to the part where it describes calculating the total cost of the assy using COST parameters in all of the models. (if you can't access the page, send me an email and I will see if I can capture it in html format and send it to you)

Use datum curves and the analysis icon on the datum menu. Create relation at the assem level to add all the curves. Relation could also be in a repeat reagion or layout or parametric note.

PS
Do I get a free ticket to water slide?
