Curve and Spline Modeling

How do you create a spline that consists of a straight line and a a half circle so when you extrude the spline, the point where the line and half circle meet does not create a line on the surface?

for your requirement u have to first draw a stright line and a semicircle ,now convert both of them to construction lines by toggle construction.

now select spline and start to draw from the semi circular end .proceed the spline along the construction lines.

and extrude.
